Vf9VL\k fal/tisto l|(9vt CdH; actJunior Chandler Waggoner tells his story ofhow he became involved in Theatre South. It was the one activity I never sawmyself doing in high school.Acting was for anybody else, notme, though I had always loved tosee shows. They were like books, with the ability to remove me fromthe world for a while. In January ofmy junior year, two friendsdecided that I needed to act.Sophomore Dina Dajani andsenior Michael Beecham told meat lunch to audition for Alice inWonderland.I thought that Chandlershould participate in theaterbecause he had the qualities ofbecoming an actor; smart, passionate, and dedicated, traitsof someone in theater, saidDajani.I figured I would not get apart but I still auditioned. Whenthe cast list was posted, I wassurprised to see my name on thelist, Chandler Waggoner: HumptyDumpty. I was confused butexcited nonetheless. The first dayof rehearsal was amazing. I met somany new people such asfreshman Gabriela Fagen, freshman Cameron Butler andsenior John Bristow IV. As timeprogressed, acting became one ofmy favorite activities. The people, the costumes, the music, everything came together. It wasamazing to see everythingprogress from a vision to a reality.Opening night was one of thegreatest experiences I have everhad. I will never forget the feelingof going on stage. It was like thefirst time a person flies in anairplane, exhilarating and scary, but exciting and unforgettable.Acting has become a part of menow and thanks to Ms. CatharineRademachers guidance, will besomething I continue.- CHANDLER WAGGONER |
