My favoritepart was meeting new people andlearning about the behind thescenes part of the newspaper,Though the newspaper wasnot everything she thought itwould be, Joseph still felt theexperience was worth everything.It [the internship] changed myidea of writing. I dont know ifnewspaper is my style, but itd becool to work for NationalGeographic or the TravelChannel.- CHANDLER WAGGONERFor one day a week, senior DavidFell went to the BloomingtonPolice Department (BPD) for eighthours, from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00p.m. to intern. Depending on theday, he did different activitiesaround the precinct. Sometimes,he would ride in the patrol car. Onthe other days, he would work inthe office or listen to calls indispatch,I always wanted to be adetective because I like solvingproblems and I always thought itwould be cool. My favorite part isriding around in the cars with thepolice officers. I like when stuffhappens and seeing how they [thepolice] react to it, Fell said.For Fell, the dream of oneday being a detective has becomemore than just a dream; it hasbecome a serious possibility.- CHANDLER WAGGONERTo pursue her hobby ofphotography, senior Lauren Blackchose to intern at KirkwoodPhotography. Throughout herinternship, she discovered how tomanipulate the camera and hersubject to get the most naturalshot.The people who I workedwith are great, Black said. Its areally relaxed environment. Thismade her experience as aphotographer both enjoyable andeye-opening.Black found her love forphotography and planned tocontinue with it and become afreelance photographer.
