Even after going throughseven different versions of it, Binghamwas still unsure as to how the projectwill end. Im just keeping the sourcecode open and posting it on my website, Bingham said. In addition to thegame engine, Bingham also spent histime developing his own operatingsystem, called ClusterOS, which wasable to boot up and say hello on itsown. However, his hobby could besomewhat risky. Theres a risk of over-clocking the CPU and turning off thefans. It corrupts your system, and I didit about four different times over thesummer. -ELIZA WILLIAMSScapegoatbyWhitechapel—sophomoreJustin SaucierKyle Bristol, 12Since his sophomore year at South, senior Kyle Bristol had been involvedwith the robotics club. The club usually had five or six Vex kits, with onekit needed to accomplish a goal. TheVex kits included metal parts, screws,and basic designs, but the club members also made up their own designs.Bristol said, Last year, the goal wasto pick up racquetballs with the robotsand drop then into pipes. The robotswere remote controlled, school owned,and remained at school. Its a greatclub, it forces you to learn to work asa team and compromise, said Bristol.-ALEXANDRA DYEIts BeenAwhile byStained-juniorf Hadley CrohnKatharine Hibler, 10Inspired by her love of photography,sophomore Katharine Hibler developed a talent for editing, enhancing,and brightening photos. She plannedto take computer graphics and web design during her junior year at South,after already getting As in photography I and II. Hibler wanted to pursuea career in advertising and graphic design. I want to see something in theworld and be able to say, I did that,she said.
