Description: historic seasonThe 2009 track and field season proved to bememorable for both the boys and girls teams.Bloomington South saw its track andfield team through a record-breakingseason that included winning Conference Indiana, sectionals, and regionals. The boys concluded a successfulseason by placing third in state. SeniorJoseph Holahan won the statecompetition in the 800-meter race,and said it was, definitely [his] seasonhigh. Holahan ran the 4x800 relay,4x400 relay, 400, and 1600, but wasbest known for his success in the 800-meter. Senior Earnie Morris brokeschool records in the 100 and 200 meter, and was recognized as the teamsMost Valuable Player for scoring themost points at meets.The school record for the 3200 meter was five seconds away from beingbeaten by sophomore Nicole Lucas.Lucas ran both the 1600 and the 3200,and was able to run the 3200 at state.Junior Emma Miller already heldthe school record in the 100 hurdles,and had experienced the thrill of making it to state the previous season.
