Around the World in 80 BitesBy Meg McGillivrayTheir veal vindaloo will blow up your head! says freshman Megan Wade of her favoritedish at the Indian restaurant Shanti. Our food preferences may begin at, but are not limited toone restaurant and one kind of food. I really like Italian food with the pizza and pasta, and Ialso love gyros even though Im a vegetarian, says Wade. But we did not necessarily want to try our newfound indulgences at first. I didnt really wantto go to Shanti but my parents dragged me there because they thought Id like it, and I lovedit, says Wade. Celebrities can sometimes provide an incentive to go to a restaurant that seems, well, not exactly your style. I think Meg Cabot ate at Shanti once, which is pretty cool, saysWade. However sometimes ethnic restaurants can be limited to the simplest form of food. TacoBell and Fazolis were among the favorite eateries of the students here at South. The restaurants were fast, convenient, and what anyone looks for in food- they were mighty tasty. For some, their favorite places to grab a bite werent here in the United States. The best foodisnt in Italian restaurants in the United States, its in Italy, says Junior Nicole Sarpa. But sinceother countries were not exactly accessible in day to day life, ethnic restaurants were a goodway to bring a different country right to your own zip code.Others prefer to do the cooking themselves. Senior Evan Brown was just one of millions ofpeople worldwide who preferred to cook their own food. I probably wouldnt go to a franchisebecause most of the time the ingredients that they use arent fresh. Why would I pay someone$10 to scoop out some cheese from a container, throw it in a shell, and steam it? It just doesntmake sense! says Brown. What is your favorite ethnic food?Oriental - 48%Italian - 14%Mexican - 34%Middle Eastern - 4%Gothic Poll Randomly Distributed to SRT ClassesWhere are you going to go eat on prom?Home - 23%Red Lobster- 13%Zagrebs - 15%Other - 23%Gothic Poll Randomly Distributed to SRT ClassesCAMPUS LIFE dont let life pass you byITSMILE GROW LEARN LAUGH THINKContact us at 812/331.2366 or btowncl(3>k:iva.nettwo ^^^ftwenty Community |
