The French, Spanlsh,japanese,jerman, and Latin clubs at south provided a firsthand link toother cultures with a local twist.The French club held a fashion show which showcasedthe latest styles from. Paris, or close to it. They also sent Southstudents to study for several weeks in France. Latin provides a basis for most romancelanguages.The spring held many opportunities forjafan Clubwhich hosted exchange students from obirin,japan. The nativeJapanese lived with and spent time with students at south whowere studyingjapanese. The students exferienced an immersion injapanese culture.During the fall, the Spanish club flanned the Dla deLos Muertos (Day of the Dead) fiesta, a sort of Halloween. TheSfanish club also went out and ate at different local Spanishrestaurants to try and get a little taste of the culture, [weljust want to inform, people about the culture, said vice presidentLeshonda Lilliard.Whether through exchanging students, celebrations, orjust eating a new food, the language clubs frovided an immersion into a different culture.Belowjayme Carney.
