But the club didntjust recognize thesecharacteristics in its members, it also worked to help thebest and brightest excel as leaders in the school and thecommunity. Frederick Kim OG said, Other clubs arejustfor fun, but in nhs we learn and help people, as offosed tojust have fun, of nhs.Kims affiliation with NHS> is long-standing. Inmiddle school he was a member of thejunior NHS. Hecredits the desire to be a part of NHS as part of his successin high school. Kim said, I was inJNHS Junior Honorsociety) in middle school, so I knew I would probably bein it at South, so that also pushed me harder iso I would beInducted] as an underclassman.One of the important ways NHS members servedthe school was to provide tutoring in math and Englishduring SFOFferiods. Alison enari OO reported that ±5-20 students came to tutoring each week. Lara HamburgerOO served as chairperson for tutoring this year.nhs members extended their reach into thecommunity at-large as well. Holiday child was a bigsuccess, so was the blood drive, said senior Alison enari.The fall blood drive was such a success that nhs hostedanother in early spring. The NHS adviser, Mrs. CarolMcGregor, helped the clubs officers plan and execute theseimportant community service events.As this years senior NHS members remove theirhonor cords, they pass on a legacy of service to a recordnumber- ±±0 new initiates- from the class ofziooj-.Below-.
