M#Gettindown oldschoo]stylets a Celebration!By Caitie Adams and Bailey AnsteadAs the end of the year approached, more andmore celebrations took place throughout the school.Seniors rejoiced at their upcoming freedom, andforeign language classes experienced differentcultures with parties to go along with themedlessons in class. Its a time just to have fun, saidMr. Pedro Sainz. Most parties occurred near theend of the year so teachers could have a time to saygoodbye to their class before finals.To celebrate the end of the year in Spanishclass, We watched a movie and brought in foodnear the end of the year, said freshman RebeccaAleman.Some classes celebrated using thematerial they had learned in school, an ideaespecially prominent in foreign language classes.Second trimester we had a food tasting party, saidsophomore Conner McDaniel about her Spanishclass, which had just learned new vocabularyconcerning food. The students in her class hadbeen required to write sentences and comment onthe different and new types of food using the newvocabulary words.Other celebrations included the annualSenior Brunch, class cookouts, and graduationparties. Some teachers and students went all out-cooking pancakes and grilling were two of the moreextravagent celebrations-while others just broughtin store bought food. Either way, celebrations werethe highlight of classes, with students in theseclasses anticipating their celebrations.Mr. Sainz stressed the importance ofrewarding students for their work. Celebrate, hesaid, Its a part of life, remember that.ff^rlJunior Justin Brosemertalked about theAdvanced Food CookoutI grilled hamburgers and friedbacon, and grilling the burgers wasfun.Senior Kendall Kenttalked about the SeniorBrunch.It was a lot of fun to hang out withall of the seniors. The food wasgood. We played knock-out andhad a blast.Left: Freshman Hilary Huntcelebrated Cinco de Mayo inher Spanish class to learn aboutthe Mexican Independanceholiday.
