Dy Rnna ZanetProm blood driues to SRT tutoring, Souths chapter of National Honors Society sponsored many school-uuide euentsthroughout the year, NHS uuas designed to honor students uuho encelled in their uuork and to giue them an opportunity togiue back to their school, This year uue ran the Red Cross blood driue, said senior Sarah Parker, The turn-out this yearuuas great, so many people uuanted to help out, The Dlood Driue is aluuays run by NHS, and is a highlight of the year.I almost passed out, but I still did it, Plus, eueryone got juice and cookies afteruuards, said Parker,members of NHS also took turns tutoring students in math, science, foreign language, and English during SRT,Students gained a neuu perspectiue by being taught by their peers instead of their teachers, I got a lot of help from themuuith algebra, said sophomore Jen UUinston, ITIy teacher uuas usually busy, so the tutors could help me uuhen he uuasntauailable, said UUinston, Teachers also appreciated the entra hand that they got from the tutors, Dy tutoring, the studentsgot a chance to use their knouuledge to helpothers,NHS uuasnt just hard uuork, The studentsgot lots of time to be uuith friends and enjoy theirseniority, Deing in National Honors Society hasbeen a great chance to do things for the school,said senior Isaiah ITIerriman, UUe also had fun justhanging out uuith friends,I(Above) Seniors Kirsten Smith, Nicole Aubin, andAlaggie Konstanski look on as the blood drive starts on.Kach played a part in organizing the event, making postersto advertise, handing out food to the donors, and writingthank you notes after the event.(Right) Senior Jeremy Moore helps sophomorelorin Franz with her Knglish homework.
