Description: #s-JLfi* //jlZp../•*;oaCjLnlStory by Tiffany HockensmithStudents looking for a way to help othersjoined SADD (Students Against Drunk Driving),Helping Hands and Peer Mediation.SADD was an organization that focused onkeeping students from making bad decisions.Co-president sophomore Christine Hartmansaid, SADD got the word out about whatsgoing on in current issues like drinking anddriving, pregnancy, and staying in school.SADD sent out sixteenth birthday cards tostudents to give them information on drinkingand driving. This year, SADD also co-organizedthe first Mr. South pageant with Theatre South.Peer Mediation was an organization thathelped students resolve their conflicts in apeaceful manner. Junior Sara Qurashi said,Peer Mediation helped people resolve theirconflicts as a neutral party, its confidential soyou dont have to worry. Peer Mediation was away to lower conflicts and confrontations atSouth, which made it a priceless resource toour school.Helping Hands was an organization thatallowed students to become involved with thecommunity. President junior Abby Dunning feltHelping Hands was an important cause,because it involved our school with thecommunity and helped students at our schoolenhance their knowledge about thecommunitys needs. The organizationvolunteered at the Community Kitchen everyMonday and sponsored a school-wide fooddrive.These clubs offered a positive interactionbetween students and our community.Senior Catherine Nahasmediates a troubledstudent.
