Mr. NeilRapp, science, offered some insight into howthe Amateur HAM Radio club operated,some of the activities that we do includebuilding antennas, direction finding, talkingto people around the world using shortwave,preparing for disaster communications, andstudying for licenses. We try a variety ofactivities involving different aspects of HAMradio, Rapp said.Senior David Collins talked about some ofthe activities that he and other students didin the FIRST Robotics club. We built a robotthats five feet tall and three feet wide andwe make it go pick up kickballs and take themto the corners of the court, which have holesin them, he said. The FIRST Roboticscompeted with their robot in St. Louis,Missouri and Grand Rapids, Michigan.For the Exploravision club, science wasalways an interest. According to junior BeckyEdmonds, there were many fun activities thatthe club did. First we get together andbrainstorm ideas for inventions, narrow themdown, and then pick one. Then we write apaper about it thats outlined by our sponsor,Edmonds said. The science clubs allowedstudents to play around with what theylearned in class and create some coolscience.Seniors Josh Figuered andMike Snow work for theFIRST Robotics Team.
