That was exactly what our cheerleaders and poms atSouth did; they inspired the students to support our sportsteams.The pom squad consisted of fourteen girls who performed infront of peers and adults at half time during sporting events. Ilike getting ready together before games, sophomore Kara Toddsaid, We listen to music to get each other all pumped up so weperform well.The poms won at their national competition andrecieved numerous awards during their summer camp. Gamesare the most fun for everyone, junior Kayla Stockert said. Itsthe time where everyone there seems to be watching us.There were four different cheerleading squads at South:Freshman, JV, Varsity, and Coed. Cheering during games was agood way to show their talents and how hard they practiced.But what about the more personal things about thecheerleading squads? Squads werent squads without friendships.Cheerleading is a sport thats a lot of hard work and a lot funfreshman Liz Mackey said, Your squad also gets to practicetogether and then show off talents during the games.Sophomore LaurenWeatherall performs at abasketball game.
