Boys and GirlsGolfStory by Ryan BearchHeading into their spring season, the boys golf squad knew it was a year ofadjustment and were ready to step up to the challenges. The major changethat occurred over the past year was the retirement of Coach George Finley.Criss Beyers stepped in as coach of the experienced group, with ten playersreturning from last year. It is hard to adjust to a new coach because everycoach has their own individual style, sophomore Kyle Taylor said. CoachBeyers did a great job stepping up and dealing with the circumstances.Six freshmen were also introduced to the team this year and all werepleased with the leadership of the upperclassmen. The coaches and otherplayers did a great job of helping us adjust this year, said freshman KipGibson. When it came sectional time only two players, junior Ryan Utnageand Kyle Taylor, advanced to the second round.The girls golf team ended their season with plenty of wins to brag about.This season was very exciting, senior Catherine Nahas said, we had a closeteam and which personally, I believe, had a lot to do with our winningrecord.
