Description: GirlsTennisStory by Maryellen McClainThe tennis team completed the season with both a winning record and a close knit team.With seven experienced seniors leading the team, the girls tennis season had a strongseason, senior Nattie Deinlein said. It was cool to have a team so close and I truly lookedup to everyone.I looked up to [senior] Michelle Smith, junior Sophia Percival said. She is alwayspumped up for matches and is really supportive of all the girls. Keeping spirits high andstaying together as a team was key to successful matches. We warm up as a team andCoach brings us in to give us a pep talk, Deinlein said. I usually do some visualization andtalk with the team to fire them up.Although the season went especially well for the girls, conditioning, long practices, andsometimes even a confusing schedule were events in the season that made it tough.Keeping the schedule straight was one of the hardest things this season, Percival said.We can get rained out sometimes and have games on days we thought we had practices.Everyone really impacted the team as a whole, Deinlein said. Our team was unitedthis year and everyone brought a different characteristic whether it be humor, intensity, orpassion.Even with a winning season, there was always room for improvement. There has beenfantastic improvements this year, Deinlein said.
