Description: CountryStory by Nicole AddazioThis years boys cross-country team finished the season with a hard-earned 53-30record. Led by four seniors, the team placed second at sectionals, fourth at regionals andeleventh at semi-state. Junior Ryan Chapman said, The camp at McCormicks Creek wasgreat. We really came together as a team and bonded. It got us excited for the season. CoachLarry Williams agreed. He said that the whole team progressed throughout the season, andpushed each other with their positive attitudes. Next years team will be very good,Williams said, The boys this year established a competitive program that will be carriedon. The girls cross-country team was a true Cinderella story this season. The team hadlost five seniors, and had low expectations. Team morale was low after a slow start to theseason. The girls didnt give up, instead, they finished the season on a very positive note, bywinning semi-state. I knew the first half of the season would be hard, coach Mary BethHannah-Hansen said, We had a lot of inexperienced runners who were still in the learningprocess. One of the reasons the team finished well, Hannah-Hansen believes, is becausethere was no pressure on the team, and they were able to have fun while running. FreshmanSharon Davis said the team had a great time together, We had so much fun, especially sinceKate Middleton was on the team. Shes so funny. And we all bonded a lot at camp during thesummer. The unity was still there at the end of the season.StatisticsBOYSBloomington NorthRushville Inv.southport/north centralHarrison Inv.Col.
