Bloomington High School South, The Gothic, 2004, Page 18

Description: southStory by Krissi TarrStudents look forward to winter break every year. Itsa well-deserved and needed vacation for students andteachers. Unfortunately, over the week release there wasno snow in Bloomington, so sledding could not take place. It wasnt warm, so outdoor swimming wasnt possibleeither. What did South students do this winter break?Anything that came to mind. Some students, like sophomore Elysia Tieman stayedhome and slept in late. Even though I didnt go out oftown it was super fun catching up on sleep, Tieman said.Junior Dan Ouellette went out of state during thebreak. I went to West Virginia and got to snowboard onSnowshoe Mountain with [junior] Erica Chin, Ouellettesaid. Ouellette and Chin went to Maine aftersnowboarding, so they could visit Ouellettes family forthe holidays.Winter break was a successful one, especially for seniorMechel Arthur, who spent her time at Suburban BowlingLanes with her friends and engaged in a bowlingcompetition. Somehow students always seemed to find away to have a good time if they were not in school. Comingup with creative activities or discovering talents is whatbeing out of school is all about.Getting into the holiday spirit, junior Kelli Sterenson andfreshman Kate Wingard laughas they wrap junior AdamHahn in Christmas treedecorations.Resting his eyes, junior AlexMysliwiec naps at a friendshouse. Most students used thebreak to catch up on muchneeded sleep they missed outon during school.18 gtutetu %ite
