Im glad that JT won andNate took fifth. Overall it wasa good team effort, junior ClayCollison said.Seniors John Bryant, ChrisFeng, Nate May and AllenWarmbier helped lead theteam in pre-match stretchesand also tried to help theunderclassmen with adviceand guidance.The seniors pushed us alot in the practice room. Theyhelped us win and with ourmoves if we werent gettingthem right, junior Ty Deckardsaid.Junior JT Young capped offan undefeated season bywinning the Statechampionship at the 135-pound weight class.Winning state was a prettyunbelievable feeling. I was gladthat all my hard work paid off.It was good to see my familyall pumped up and myteammates excited, Youngsaid.After every practice, theteam would read poetry to eachother for relaxation and focus.I really enjoyed the poem.They sure helped me jelax andcalm down after a hardpractice, sophomore TomWonder said.During the week before ameet, the team would havepasta dinners together.The dinners were the firsttime we could eat in front ofthe coaches, since we alwayshad to make weight,sophomore Matt Barnes said.Senior Nate May wrestledBloomington North senior, andfriend, Joe Hosek five timesduring the season, winningthree of the five.I was never afraid ofwrestling him, because weknow each others style.
