Description: usually drive all over the place looking forsomething to do, senior Jenny Nolan saidabout her weekends. But I always end upsitting around at a friends house.A lack of things to do on weekends was a commoncomplaint of students, but some still found ways tomake do with what Bloomington offered. One option was the IU Memorial Union, offeringbowling and pool. Senior Ben Denton also tookadvantage of the college activities held in thebuilding. Me and a bunch of guys werethere, and we saw that IU was having adance. It was kind of dead, so we starteddancing and acting crazy and became thelife of the party, Denton said.A more traditional hangout was the28 GOTHIC •reflectionsmovie theater. Even there, however, students foundentertainment beyond the silver screen. A group offriends and I were in the theater parking lot after ourmovie, and we saw this van with carpet hanging outthe back, so we just started playing on them, sophomore Nattie Deinlein said.BHSS sporting events were another popularpastime, but when none could be found somestudents created their own games on the ice. NearbyFrank Southern was the rink of choice for freshmanJessica Bush. It almost always results in one of usfalling, but its good for a laugh, Bush said. After agame, Steak n Shake was a place to warm up.Despite the lack of activities, many studentsfound ways to take advantage of what Bloomingtonhad to offer and created diversions of their own.by Brapdt 51/ou/alter
