J„- „single-handedly by auctioning off an autographedvideo tape during his bands performance night.Woodruff was one of many students who helpedcontribute to the AIDS benefit dance. The dance, put on by PROUD, raised $400 altogether to donateto various community programs helping peoplediagnosed with AIDS.Not only did the dance fund a cause that wasimportant to many students, but it also proved to bea success. The dance featured two school bands,Bacchus and Cardboard, and a live performance fromthe comical improv act Cletus and Virgil. I wasreally impressed by the bands, junior MeganParmenter said. I didnt realize there was so muchtalent in our school. Sophomore Christine Zookalso remembers the night fondly. It wasnt howyou were dressed or who you were with.. it was fun.Sophomore Laura Patton enjoyed the dancebecause it played to a smaller audience, and theatmosphere was really laid back. She said that Cletusand Virgil helped to get everyone loosened up beforethe dance, and that her favorite part of the skit wasAdam Nahass impression of Elvis. The AIDS dance, unlike most typical schooldances, provided an upbeat and casual atmospherethat allowed students to interact and relax whilesimultaneously helping to support a cause. Thecombination of live music and comedy made for afun and charitable night.by /lllie Betypeyaids benifit dance 23 |
