Description: Raising theirhelmets in the air,seniors Brian Spilbelerand Ray Cross savorthe taste of victory.After the game theplayers, parents andfans gathered at thegym for a post-gamecelebration. Theplayers later visitedlocal schools andreceivedcongratulations on thechampionship season.It was kind ofoverwhelming. Youdnever think that somany people wouldrecognize our accomplishments. After seeing the kids idolizeus, it made a lot of the players want to conduct themselvesin a more respectful manner, Spilbeler said.Leaping into the stands, junior Rob Shirley celebrates thechampionship with the fans. Students showed their support by wearingpurple and white and painting their faces and bodies.This team is by far the best team in the state, and its my senior yearso I wanted to show a lot of support for them. I went to every game allyear and painted up every time people painted up. To see them win itthis year after last year and getting revenge is a feeling you cant describe.Its just awesome, senior Charlie Dunn said.Show us yourCarrying Coach Mo Moriarity on their shoulders, seniors Ray Cross and JasonDenton stride over to the sidelines. Moriarity won his second State title of the decade,the other claimed in 1993.Obviously, any time you win a State championship it is a great feeling. It was a lotof fun in 93, and again, it was a lot of fun this year. I think this year was special sincewe came real close last year and didnt win it. Then to be able to come back and win itmade it extra special, Moriarity said.Displaying an updated version of theteam motto, the fans make it known that theyare the champions. After losing the 1997 Statefinal to Penn by a single point, the teamcommitted the season to finishing the business.The seniors thought up the motto ofunfinished business because we went to Statelast year and didnt get the job done. To winthis year really took the monkey off our back; itreally relieved a lot of pressure, senior RayCross said.spirit.Enthusiastically reactingto a play on the field, fans cheer onthe team. The players receivedsupport from fans who filled upthe stands on the sideline.It was the best fan support Iveever seen and from what Iveheard, some of the best in thecountry. I remember ... all the signsthat went up, especially the one forTruck (Charles Davis) that said,Keep on Truckin, junior JaredDevich said.InthezoneattheDomeseeing and doingFootball Champs0
