Studentsfound Steak nShake appealingbecause no matterwhen they went thechances of seeingsomeone they knewwas good.MATT VLASMANborders•Borders bookstore and itsconnecting coffee shop, theEspresso Cafe, was a popular placeto hang out and do homework.We go there and listen to musicand be really stupid and dance.The people whowork there atnight evenknow us wevisit so much,senior LauraCobb said.Blockbuster•Whenhaving asleepover orjust a quietevening athome, Blockbuster was thetop choice forrenting movies.I go thereevery weekend.I like romanceand romanticcomedies. They decided on Nothing to Lose, and RunningBrave.While listening tomusic on theheadphones atBorders, seniorJulie Smith scansthe CD selection.Borders and itsconnecting coffeeshop proved to be apopular spot notonly on theweekends, butanytime studentsneeded a book, CDor good cappucino.When studentsneeded a change ofpace from theirclassrooms orkitchen tables, theyfound Bordersatmosphere to begreat for studyingor doing homework.Junior Ally Korzecchecks theshowings for thenewly releasedmovie, Enemy ofthe State. Standingthe test of time,movies stillprovided studentswith somewhere togo for entertainment and fun.Showplace• Showplace was the largestcinema in Bloomington with 11theaters. It was not only a place tocatch a flick on the weekends, butalso a way to earn money for manystudents.I like to go to the movies a loton the weekends with myboyfriend. We normally seecomedies. I like it when the moviethat I am seeing is in the theaterswith the rocky chairs, juniorAngie Colson said.Lake Monroe•Many students went to thelake to hang out with friends,water ski, swim and to tan.We go to the lake when theweather is nice and we swim orskip rocks.
