Last summeron the beach, this guy beat me.Q: How long did you train in Texas with Bela Karolyi and the other gymnastics coaches?A: I lived in Texas during my 4th and 5th grade years. I had my own life down in Texas.Q: What was your training schedule like when you lived there?A: I practiced from 6:30-8:30 every morning before school. I would then go to school andreturn to the gym around 4:00 and not head home until 8:00 or 9:00. It was pretty intense.Q: Since you were training with such renowned coaches, were the Olympics ever an option ora goal for your future?A: Going to the 2000 Olympics was my goal at the time. However, when I found out that Icouldnt go, the goal was to plan for the 2004 Olympics.Q: Is going to the 2004 Olympics still your goal?A: Going to the Olympics is something I would still like to do, but my knee injury makes ithard to do lots of repetition which would be required. Going from level 10 to Elite is such ahuge step that Id have to focus on it so much, and I wouldnt really have time to lead a normallife.Q: Did you find high school gymnastics very different than the level of gymnastics you areused to competing at?A: I wasnt familiar with high school gymnastics, and it was really different than my clubmeets. The atmosphere of a high school meet makes it not as stressful and more fun. Clubmeets add more pressure.pl,&4wrw&yv. J>e*v167!
