Description: DominatesTo win Sectional, Regional and SemistateThe team ran to a first placefinish in its first three statetournament meets. The teamrepeated winning Sectional, andalso won the Regional andSemistate races. It was surprising and reallynice. We had such a good andfocused team during thoseraces, since they were suchimportant meets. Many of thegirls had outstanding times, sophomore Amanda Kinsersaid. In mid-season, the girls weresurprised about assistantcoach, Rosie Piga, gettingengaged. Our head coach, Mrs.Hannah-Hansen, had told usabout it before Piga did. ThenHansen told us about anengagement shower, atradition where you throw theperson who was just engagedunder running water. When Pigaannounced her engagement, wepicked her up, and threw herunder a water pump that thefootball team used, juniorMonica Behney said.During the regular season, the Panthers ran in theManchester Invitational, whichwas a 27 team meet.A lot of the teams were fromup north, and we dont runagainst a lot of northern teams,so it was tough. We placedfourth, which was the same aslast year, sophomore JaimeMathias said.Although the girls crosscountry team had a greatseason, one team memberworked especially hard.Monica Behney was sucha nice surprise. She workedreally hard over the summer, andit showed. Her times droppeddrastically, and she earned thenumber three spot on our team.It was great to have her withus, sophomore ChiemiFavinger said.By AllisonHowelll?2| Gothic :: 5^&eeWBloomington North: WRushville Invit.: 4th out of 24North Central/Southport: 1stPatriot Invit.: 1st out of 5Columbus East: 1st out of 8Bloomington South Invit.: 1stout of 6Southport Invit.: 2nd out of 18Columbus North/Martinsville: 2ndManchester Invit.: 4th out of 27Conference Indiana: 4thout of 10Sectional: 1 st out of 10Reqional; 1st out of 10Bloomington North Invit.:(10 teams)Freshman/Sophomore: 1 stJunior/Senior: 2ndSemistate: 1 st out of 20State: 15th out of 20Lauren DemmingPushing themselves, junior Monica Behney andsophomore AmandaKinser try to get past aMartinsville opponent inthe Bloomington SouthInvitational.
