Description: i aBy JeffRuns OffWhile spending the year in the top twentyThe team had one dual meetwin and four second placefinishes in invitationals. Itshighest ranking in the state pollthis year was seventh.I was very pleased with ourperformance this year. We ransome very good races as a teamin the beginning of the season. The ranking was something allof us were proud of, eventhough it slowly dropped overthe course of the season. It feltgood to be recognized with allof the other good cross countryteams in the state, junior JaredPayne said.On nights before meets, theteam would get together at ateam members house for dinner.Junior Daniel Konstanskishouse was a very popular placeto eat, and everybody loved thefood that was served. My mom makes a dish theteam has dubbed bread balls. These are small rolls of breadmade out of a special dough withpepperonis in them. The entireteam, and also Coach (Larry)Williams, loves them,Konstanski said.ShowdownThe team ran in theManchester Invitational, whichfeatured 11 of the states top 20teams, on Saturday, October 1.They finished eighth out of 25.Manchester is always oneof the major high points of theseason because of the exposurethis meet gives to some reallygood state-worthy teams. I lovethe excitement of the largenumbers of people who attendthe meet. And almost everyonewho runs this flat course gets aP.R.
