Description: Shaping the futureiFor a South student the day startsoff at 8:00 a.m., it is packed with classesand of course socialization. For anadministrator the day is very different, itstarts much earlier and is full of organizingand re-organizing, problems and problemsolving. This year our administrators arePrincipal Mike Riggle, Vice Principal TomRingo, and Dean of Students SarahFranklin. These three people guide ourschool through today and lead us in totomorrow.Dr. Riggle felt that the schoolyear was a success. He commented thatthere was a lot of hard work done by a lotof people, through North Central, groundwork was laid for the next five year. Whenasked about the ever so famous topic ofrenovation, Dr. Riggle gave a reflectivesmile saying that it was like the O.J.Simpson case, it drags on and on with whatseems to be no new news, yet there is theunderlying urgency to complete it. Dr.Riggle also commented on intercession, overall he felt that it was comprised ofclasses which needed to be incorporatedinto the entire school year, such as job-shadowing.Students often see this man comeinto their class at least once a day, selectinga few students to visit with him in the hall.If you sat in his office for a while you woulddoubt that you were in a high school, forevery two minutes a new toy is brought in(examples being water guns, hackey sacs, etc.) Mr. Ringo has the fine job of keepingstudents in line, he said the most frustratingpart of it was that in the case of attendancehe sees the same 35-40 students each time. When asked what the most common excuseheard from students he answered withouthesitation, car problems. This woman is new to theadministrators, once we looked to her as acounselor and now as the Dean of Students.Mrs. Franklin felt that this was a positiveyear, from the parents, students, andteachers perspective. As an administratorshe felt that she had less time to expandideas or programs that she would haveliked to, in other words it is a very fast-paced job. In comparison to being acounselor she said, As a counselor yousee more of a broad range of students, thisbeing because of things such as scheduling. As an administrator you see more of theextremes of students, you attend suchthings as Awards Banquets and then dealwith truancies the next day. These three people have veryinnovative ideas so South students canexpect changes. Whether your concernslie in renovation, intercession, attendance,or any other range of topics you can trustthat Dr. Riggle, Mr. Ringo, and Mrs.Franklin are taking care of them andworking for your future.story by Kelli WilsonWHAT ADVICE DOUIDEN222/ALBUM
