Description: Streaking Panthers£* arrying on the fine tra-^ dition of South boystrack, the 1989 team maintained a dual meet recordof 6-0. They also boastedtheir fourth straight sectional win. All of our goalswere met this year with theexception of winning theSCC in which we placedsecond, commentedcoach Larry Williams.Four individuals advanced to the state meetincluding Pat Lumbley inthe shot put, Jamie Lafol-lettte in the 3200, Dave Mil-likan in the low hurdles andChris Collins in the 100mand 200m dash. Lumbleyand Millikan placed 8thand although the othertwo did not place, all fourboys had personal bests.Coach Williams statedthat this was the most athletic team (he) has had inyears and because of thistalent it was possible tomove people around tomatch the weaknesses ofthe opposing teams.Coach Williams also said,The true character of theteam really came out; Iwas very proud. Withmany team members returning, next year promisesto carry on the tradition.Able to leap tall hurdles in a single bound, Dave Milikan soars dur-ring the 100m hurdles.Up and over goes Ward Browndurring the high jump competion.113
