In thepast, freshman have not beenallowed to participate in... and all that jazz!Madrigals Heather Harveyand Jerry Brown performsome smooth moves during aSounds of Southperformance.With the senior members ofthe show choir in their capsand gowns the Sounds ofSouth sing best wishes to theseniors at Commencement inMay.Sounds of South, but Wittenexplained that freshmen boyswere allowed to participatebecause we like to keep theboys in the program as longas possible to keep thebalance between the boysand the girls.Because the Sounds ofSouth is a show choir, theydo more than just sing. Theydance, act, and wearcostumes while they perform.Because of this, studentshave to go through a strictaudition to get into theSounds of South. Wittenexplained that at the audition,students have to sing a solo,sight-read music, and performa dance routine.Witten said, The Madrigalsperform countless times. InDecember alone weperformed ten times.Sounds of South alsocompetes in many contestsstarting in Febuary, includingBishop Luers and Piqua,Ohio. Also they competed inWashington, D.C. during theInternational Festival of Music.Senior Marc Scott summedup his feelings on Sounds ofSouth: Ive been in theSounds of South for threeyears, and when the last noteis sung and the last curtaincloses, what I will rememberis the people, the friends.Bonds so strong they willnever end and memories thatwill never be forgotten.182
