Description: Language Clubs, a placeof culture and friendshipI learned a lot by being inthe Spanish Club. It wasinteresting and a great way tomeet people whom you didntknow, commented JuniorStacey Griffith. This year 20students were involved inSpanish Club. Members inthis club were thebenefactors for the exchangestudents from Spain. Theyprovided money andtransportation for suchactivities as going to KingsIsland and Indy for a day.We didnt have a realexciting year, however, wewent on picnics and forChristmas we ate dinner atChi-chis. The studentsprovided all social gatheringsand the Spanish kids seemedto have enjoyed them,included Mrs. Morrow, theSpanish Club Advisor.The French Club wasanother club that alsoprovided money and plans forexchange students. One fundraiser was selling calendars.Barb Moffatt, a sophomoremember of the French Club,received a scholarship for ISUSummer Honors. She wasoffered $100 towards a $2902 week class at Indiana StateUniversity. Its great thatthey offer this award andeven better that I can go to it.It will help me in French nextyear while taking classes atI.U, says Barb. This is thenext best thing to going toFrance.Films were a way theGerman Club membersshared cultural experiences.The German Club plans totake a trip to Germany in thenext year. One of our bigfundraisers will be acarwash, said Mrs.Brushwyler, the GermanAdvisor. Some activities thathappened throughout theyear were a Christmas partywhere members brought inauthentic German food andshared all their different kindswith each other. Eventhough this is my first year asGerman Club Advisor, I feelthat this group has a lot ofpotential, said MrsBrushwyler.Being on Latin Club givesstudents of different classesa chance to do thingstogether, said Mrs. Arthur,the Latin Club Advisor. Oneof the clubs favorite activitiesis to go out and eat. LesliesItalian Villa and the TrojanHorse are two of their favoriteplaces to gather andconverse with each other. Apicnic at the end of the yearis a fun time for the club,comments Mrs. Arthur. Thisyear seven people from theLatin Club are spending 10days in Italy along with Mrs.Arthur. Three of the majorcities going to be visited areRome, Venice, and Florence.Spanish Club.
