Description: South offersdifferent clubs fordifferent interests.Aside from six classes aday, students have manyopportunities to pursue theirinterests through manydifferent clubs offered atSouth. The Varsity Club iscomposed of students whoare involved in athletics. Toreceive their Varsity Clubsweatshirt, members mustvolunteer a certain number ofhours of work for the club.The Varsity Club sponsoredthe Battle of the Bands thisyear. Several bandscompeted in South auditoriumand were judged by Southfaculty.In the business departmentthere are three clubsdesigned for students whohave an interest in business:Office Education Association(OEA), Junior OEA, andDistributive Education(DECA). This years sponsorsfor these clubs are Mary JaneTrinkle, Martha Street and Mr.Denny. Members of thesegroups compete with otherbusiness groups from otherschools in office skills. Beinga member of OEA has manyadvantages, meeting newpeople, learning leadershipskills, and occupationalskills, says Maria Goodman,president of OEA, Its agreat experience.The Ski Club, sponsored byLisa Daerr, celebrated itssecond year of existence. Theclub made weekly trips to SkiWorld in Brown County. A skitrip was planned for Michigan,but had to be cancelledbecause of bad weather.
