Description:	M^STSpanish students visit SouthStudents from Spain andtheir teacher, MercedesVenito Cajal, arrived at theIndianapolis Airport fromCastellon Spain. The trip tookthem two days, and many ofthe students had never mettheir hosts before. The onlySpanish students who didknow their hosts were thosewho had hosted one of theSouth students who went toCastellon last year withSpanish teacher JudyMorrow.The first weekend that thestudents were inBloomington, the hosts had awelcome to Bloomingtonparty at junior Eddie Clinchshouse. All the students fromSpain and their host familiesBienvenidos! Welcome toAmerica, said teacherMercedes Venito Cajal asthirteen students from Spaincome off a plane inIndianapolis after a 24 hourtrip.Instead of the usual summertrips to Florida, junior DonBurch visits Sevilleis Park inSpain.attended. They also saw theI.U. vs. Missouri footballgame, as well as the Northvs. South football game. Afield trip to Indianapolis wasarranged, including suchsights as Union Station andthe Speedway. One of thefavorite pastimes for theSpanish students wasshopping trips to the CollegeMall. They bought Levis andSwatches everyday. I spentmore time at the mall withthem than I did all year, saidsenior Sarah DeHayes.The last weekend that thestudents from Spain werehere, there was a going-awayparty at Spanish teacherKaren Hunsickers house.That Sunday, all the hoststudents, the Spanishstudents, and the Spanishteachers left on a bus at sixoclock in the morning forCincinnati, Ohio, to spend theday at Kings Island. Some ofthe Spanish students were alittle wary of the rollercoasters. At first they didntwant to ride the rollercoasters, but in the end, mostof them went at least once,said Sarah DeHayes.The Spanish students andtheir teacher left for Spain onOctober 6. In March of 1988,15 South students and KarenHunsicker went to Castellonto continue the exchangeprogram with the high schoolthere.26W/~ ^
