Abraham-BlethThe class of 1989Pennant sales fund projectsA common sight at homefootball games this year was thetable where the sophomoreclass sold pennants. However, the officers seldomstayed behind the table. Afterenlisting the help of 15 or 20close friends, the officerslaunched a sales campaign that, although somewhat unorganized was effective. Accordingto the president some of thesales techniques included walking across the bleachers wavingseveral pennants, approachingpeople coming in and askingthem to buy them, and frequently having going-out-of-business sales. As the gameswore on the sales ideas becameincreasingly creative.I think most people probablybought the pennants and threwthem away, but we did talk oneman into buying 6 to give to hisTroy AbrahamMichelle AcitoMarcy AckermanMatt AdamsRodney AdamsShelly AdamsDavid AllenDeirdre AllenLance AllenAnnette AllgoodBrian AltopRoger AmmonsElizaoeth ArkushBrian AultDavid BacklerCathy BaileyKevin BaileyTyler BassRob BastinNikki BaysTeresa BelmontJulie BennettSeth BerryBeth BladenBilly BihlmanMelinda BineJason BineTim BlackDavid BlackwellChris BlakeBob BlandMatt Blethgrandchildren, said sophomorerepresentative Leslie Cohen.Along with the famous pennant sales, the sophomoresraised money through numerous bake sales, a dance and acar wash where they raised$400, according to treasurerTami Shields. This was a moreproductive year than last yearfor us in terms of money andsupport from the rest of theclass. The officers invited all sophomores to attend class meetings, work at bake sales, andparticipate in the homecomingbanner contest in efforts to raiseinterest among their class. And, as anyone who bought apennant during football seasoncan tell you, once this class hasan interest in something, theydont soon lose it.Sophomore class officers for 1987 wereAysin Erdener, secretary; Tami Shields, treasurer; Kelly McGregor, vice-president and Jodi Eads, president.I162 Sophomores |
