Description: tT^Ideas of high schoolAs a senior awaiting my finalfew weeks before graduation, Ihave a tendancy to not onlylook toward what adventuresawait me in the future, but alsowhat lies behind me in thepast, as well.As I prepare to walk thefinal mile to get my diploma,I find myself remembering certain things about my past fouryears, as do others of myclassmates. Most likely when we firstentered our place, BHS South,as freshmen, or even as 8thgraders on visitation day, weentered it with preconceivednotions or misconceptions ofwhat it would be like. In mostcases, whether overly optimistic or overly pessimistic, our ideas were a little off base,as are a lot of preconceivednotions. Many of my fel lowclassmates agree with me thattheir preconceived notionswere not on the same planewith reality.Jim Hayes said, All 8thgraders have this image ofwhat they think high school willbe like. When I got here I foundout it wasnt all fun andgames.Meggin Cabot came to Southwith a very optimistic outlook... when I was a freshman Ithought South would be a happy hunting ground for a cutenumber of guys, but every yearthere seem to be fewer andfewer guys to choose from. Inall fairness, it must be saidCabot refused to date youngerguys. It would be safe to say thatalmost every freshman uponentering any high school hasthe fear of being bullied aroundby the dreaded up-perclassmen. Dan Fierst wasno exception. He said, however, I realized theywerent so bad. He did say, however, Its always fun toabuse the freshmen. Its a partof growing up. But being asenior has made me moreaware of their feelings. When Im old and gray, andsitting in my rocker thinkingback on the good ol days, I willcertainly remember my highschool years, as will most ofmy cohorts. Something I willremember is how many timespreconceived notions I had ofthe place differed from reality.Heather Cramer ... a happy hunting groundfor cute guys says senior Meggin Cabot.
