Description:	84 Girls team does pretty wellDespite being a young team,as well as fairly inexperienced,the 1984 girls cross countryteam did pretty well, according to senior runner ChrissyEubanks.We didnt do too bad for theamount of people we had. Theteam was young with only twoseniors, and the rest freshmanand beginning runners, saidEubanks.The team was small, with only five runners: seniors JenniferBaker and Eubanks, the onlyAt the Bloomington Invitational,senior Jennifer Baker and freshmanAngie Eads are neck and neck with aColumbus North opponent. Baker andEads were the number one and tworunners, respectively, for thePanthers.GIRLS* CROSS COUNTRY TEAM.FRONT ROW: Chrissy Eubanks, LoriParham, Angie Eads. BACK ROW: AmyCunningham, Geoff Tichenor, coach,Jennifer Baker.veteran runners, sophomoreLori Parham, and freshmenAmy Cunningham and AngieEads. According to Baker, thenumber one running spot wasfought for by Cunningham,Eads and herself.Eubanks cited Baker as beingthe team moral leader. Bakerwas also chosen B-Woman.Baker said that basically whatshe did for team moral was totalk to each runner individuallybefore and after races, givingthem support.The team ended with a 5-5record, placing fourth in sectionals, and 12th in regionals.The South harriers could notbe scored in the South CentralConference meet becausethey had only four runners,and a team of five is needed tobe scored.Baker cited the sectionalrace as being one of the best ofthe season. She said thateverybody was really psyched. When we found out we hadmade it on to regionals, wewere so happy that we juststarted jumping around.Eubanks said that at regionals,however, the competitionwas much harder, and we justwerent ready for it.Although having a biggerteam is better in terms of scoring and winning, according toBaker, with a small team, suchas South, you really get toknow and care about eachother.108 GirlsCross Country
