Description: ■ linn !■™Theatre South devoted to successPerforming on stage haskept a steady stream of enthusiasm flowing throughSouths thespians for years;the 1984-85 school year wasno exception. Devotion to successful productions was themost important thing on theirminds.This year Theatre South performed two major productions.The fall production, SpoonRiver Anthology, consisted ofa series of dramaticmonologues spoken by thedead providing insights for theliving.In the spring was the secondproduction, the musicalMame. This was the story ofa free-spirited single womanwho was suddenly faced withmothering her 10-year-oldnephew. Members of the musicdepartment also participated.Theatre South members used both group and individualefforts to raise money toreplenish funds used for twoproductions. Theatre Southmembers had multiple bakesales and car washes, and acarnation sale. Some membersearned money outside schooland contributed those funds toTheatre South.The relationship amongmembers were very close. Inessence, the members becameone big family during productions. Sponsor Mary Forestersaid, A certain pleasure experienced in any extracurricular activity is that relationships between themembers develop which arenot possible in the classroomsetting.Mame cast members, freshmanKristian Ingersol, junior DebbieMorgan, junior Jamie Bass, sophomoreSusan Park, junior Ann Dilcher, seniorJanet Ebeling, and junior Sarah Zeimerfocus their attention on the performance ahead. Their costumes arecharacteristic of 1920s style clothing.Portraying a drunk is junior DominicPowell in Spoon River Anthology. Aplay in which the dead provided insightto those in the audience.Freshman Jamie Haddawi helps aSpecial Olympic participant at IndianaUniversitys Bill Armstrong Stadium.Many Theatre South members entertained the athletes between events.74 Theatre South
