Miscellaneous, etc.Stephanie and Scott Kiesling enjoy lunch at Taco Tuesday.Cafe not goodenough for someI will never eat inthat cafeteria, saysjunior Tony Farmer. He is like manystudents who choose topass up the cafeteriaeach day for lunch andtake advantage ofSouths open campus.Although thesestudents options wereexpanded with thecoming of several newrestaurants in the area, old standbys were stillpopular and frequentedreligiously.Building activity inthe area brought NobleRomans Pizza, BurgerKing, and Pizza Hutrestaurants, plus twosub shops, adding to thealready largepopulation of eatingestablishments in theimmediate vicinity. These oldstandbys, especiallyMcDonalds, still heldpopularity. TacoTuesday (two tacosfor 99 cents at TacoJohns) still remainedpopular, and theHouse of Ho-ho stilldrew a crowd onBargain Wednesday. The Flying TomatoBrothers continued todraw a crowd with theirgutbusters atGarcias Pizza in a Pan.Reasons to go outvary, but most studentsfind that they mostlydont want to eat atschool just to avoid thecafeteria. Sometimesyou just get tired ofeating the same oldfood in the cafeteria, oryou need a break fromschool, saidsophomore Nick Port. Some students, however, go out tolunch every day, becoming regulars atthe establishments inthe area. Others eat ata different restauranteach day. These diehard off-campus eaters, very simply, dont wantto eat at school and, asFarmer said, refuse toeat in the cafeteria. For South students, its never just anotherordinary, routine daySo goes another day... one day at a time... another day anotherdollar... day byday ...Each day of the weekis bound to conjure upcertain things in +heminds of all tec.agers.The students ai Southare no different. As aresult, they have addedto the list ofconventional names forthe days of the week.Mondays aretraditionally lookedupon with a feeling ofdread and gloom. Butdue to the morningshow of popular D. J.sBob and Tom,Mondays have beenhailed by teenagers ashelium Monday.Tuesdays havebecome known as TacoTuesdays. This can beattributed to the sale oftacos (two for 99 cents)at the local TacoJohns.Hump day finallyarrives withWednesdays. Since itfalls smack in themiddle of the week, it isthe hump to get overbefore the end.Everything else isdownhill to theweekend. One South studentwho asked not to benamed, commented,Man, Wednesdays aregreat! You only havetwo more days of schooluntil the partyingstarts.Another thing humpday is known as isBargain Wednesday. This being because thenearby Hostess storesells their goodies at avery low price. Hungrystudents trek over atlunchtime, and returnwell stocked for the restof the week.Frankly, Thursdaysort of got lost in themiddle of things.Sitting right afterhump day and rightbefore the big day, people tend to use it asa day * -^tch theirbreaths and makeweekend plans.Thank god itsFriday pretty muchsums up the generalview of all the people inschool on the final dayof the week.Fridays, it seems, arethe days in which moretests are given than anyother day of the week.So following the afterschool hours there ismuch rejoicing. It canbe said that this is aday to which studentslook forward.Saturdays andSundays speak forthemselves, and are atime students spenddoing . . . well, whatever it is that theydo on the weekends. It matters not whatthe day is called, for aday is but a moment intime...Student Life 35 |
