Boner will work for a year toraise money for college. Interested inpsychology, she will begin school at thetime she normally would. Miller will be going to school in Italy on a Rotary scholarship for a year. Boner and Miller took correspondence courses to make up forsome of the requirements they did nottake at South. Both will be taking classesduring the summer. Boner said, I amvery excited and also very comfortablewith my decision to graduate early. Mostpeople agree that graduating early hasbeen very beneficial to them. One might think that some of thesepeoples friends might be envious orjealous, but senior Pradeep Puri commented that most of his friends thoughtit was pretty neat. Solbrigs friends werevery supportive of her decision tograduate early. Miller and Boner said theythought their friends wished they couldgraduate early too. There is a new law in effect that doesnot permit a student to graduate beforeseven semesters. Boner said the rule isvery unfortunate, because it is a goodopportunity and give students time toraise money if they need it. Miller statedthat the Rotary scholarship is available tojuniors, so the law would decrease thenumber of people for the scholarship.Holden feels that people should be ableto graduate early if they want. Puri expressed his feelings by simply stating,Thats stupid. Solbrig, however, pointed out another view: I think its agood rule, because some people are tooyoung to get out before sevensemesters. The consensus seems to be thatgraduating one or two semesters early isa good way to get a head start on a students future.Art by Rob HarrellSeniors 145 |
