Description: Optional team sets school record of 91.2This years girls gymnastics optionalteam set a school record of 91.2 in totalteam points.The optional teams record was 8-2.Coach Marianne Nordberg felt the teamsbest meet was the South Central Conference (SCC). The Panthers were SCC champions this year with 89.99 in total teampoints, a new conference record. SeniorJulie Harding won firsts in both the floorexercise and vault. Sophomore Cindy Westreceived a first on the balance beam.South placed second in sectional andadvanced freshman Lori Nonweiler andsophomore Cathy Pagani to regional competition.There were seven girls on this yearsoptional team—doing the work of 20,according to Nordberg. Harding set aschool record for the uneven bars with 7.95,while West set a new school mark on thebalance beam with 8.35.The intermediate teams record was 7-2,with 94.4 in total team points in the SCC.1 MThree intermediate gymnasts—seniorCalkins and sophomores Erin McClaryBeth Prince—advanced to interrrnregional.
