If someone was having trouble with her game, oneof her teammates or Mrs. Britton would be there tohelp. And most importantly, we all wanted to play well,not for ourselves but for the team!Nancy StewartAlthough Souths 1979 girls golf teamwas a young one compared to many oftheir opponents, they compiled a 4-6 regular season record, which Coach Janet Britton considered a good job.Early in the season Britton said she wasvery optimistic about this years teambecause she felt the girls were all very interested in building a strong team.The teams most exciting contest, Brittonfelt, was a four-way meet with Seymour,Brownstown, and Madison, The Panthersplaced second with a score of 208, only 11strokes away from Seymour. Britton felt thiswas Souths best performance of the season. It was even more exciting because junior Leah Mitchell made two birdies andturned in her best score of the season.Senior Nancy Stewart was the B-womanaward winner, and sophomore Lisa Bakerwas voted honorary captain.
