Description: Young team gains experience, ends 15-10Being on a volleyball team and striving for a winningseason might seem easy to some. Being on a youngSouth volleyball team and striving to win and live up toteams of the past is something else. Our team was inexperienced and afraid—afraid of losing. Many times wedidn t feel like part of the team; but we were, even if itmeant sitting on the bench. Nobody likes a defeat, andthey did come, and we had to accept and try to overcome our mistakes. The thrill of victory—even a smallone, like pushing the state champions into threegames-was also part of our season.Susan PlewSouths volleyball team started off theseason well with only one loss in the first sixgames—that to eventual state champion,undefeated Ben Davis.In the seasons sixth game, the powerfulPanthers crushed BHS North 15-11,15-12.Injuries followed that put the team on a losing streak. As the team fought to recover,South defeated Edgewood, Van Buren, andfinally Bedford to end regular season playfwith a 15-10 record.
