F^l*?^. i&MifSU^OUR <PEOPLEcMAKE US GREATSeniors feel many different emotions atthe thought of graduating. Some areecstatic, some are sad, and others feel insecure. One of the happy ones said, I cant wait.I will be so excited to be able to leave highschool. It will be a wonderful feeling. I justcant wait.At least two seniors feel apprehensive. You know how everybody cries at Commencement? Well, I wont be bawlingbecause Im leaving; but I will feel sorry toleave the security of the school. Here yourestill treated as a kid. Sometimes I want theresponsibilities of an adult, but sometimesthe other way is nice too.Another senior with sweaty palms said, Iwill be sad because I feel very secure. Rightnow I feel as if Ill be happy when I graduate; but when it comes right down to it, Iknow Ill feel insecure. Four years is a prettylong time to go to one school. Many students never have the opportunity to get to know their teachers on a personal, individual basis. The ones who do,often find special relationships buriedunder the classroom image. Some of theteachers Ive had I love and respect verydeeply. I could always talk to them as people, and they would always listen. Some ofthem Ill remember for a very long time, one senior said.Another commented, I think it would behard to be a teacher. I would want to voicemy opinion all the time. Some teachers Ivehad are flaky, some are funny, some arejerks and bozos, and some are senile.A third senior said, I think theyre sobusy with paper work that they dont havethe time to give to students that they shouldhave—time they should spend just talkingand showing they care. Maybe they dontcare, but I think theyre just too busy.Looking back on the four-year experienceat South, one thoughtful senior said, Highschools are too conservative. Studentsdont question enough of the policies. ButIve enjoyed high school; and of course, Illalways remember the friends I found duringthe time.IAlbum Division 107 |
