Description: Studentsinvolvedin projectsContinued from page 92Business law, taught by Carole Bushert,had several mock trials. Each of these trialshad a judge, two attorneys, bailiff, jury, andwitnesses.Advanced biology students dissectedsharks and fetal pigs and also wrote termpapers. It was fun, commented one junior about her experience. Seniors inadvanced chemistry did experiments tosupplement the textbook. Each seniorworked alone and, as a student said,learned from their mistakes.Dagnija Berzins third-year German classof juniors and seniors produced plays during the year for extra credit. Berzins felt thisactivity helped the students with theirvocabulary.Speeches were a part of the freshmanEnglish curriculum. One freshman Englishteacher felt these speeches were beneficialbecause they gave the students experiencein speaking before a group. They alsotaught students how to research topics andhow to put thoughts in a logical order.The silversmithing class worked with different metals, making jewelry and beltbuckles. One junior commented, Its a lotof fun. Introduction to art was a prerequisite to most art courses; this class coveredmany different aspects of art.
