I havelearned to cope with both of these conditions, but it has not been easy. There are a couple of things that geton my nerves most. One thing bad aboutbeing small is that you are always gettingpushed around. Getting stepped on inthe halls, pushed into the lockers, andbeaten brutally are daily events. Besidesbeing just a freshman and gettingpushed around by upperclassmen, I alsoget stepped on and pushed around byother freshmen.Another thing is getting tested on.Now, I suppose you have no idea what Imean by getting tested on; and if youJay Curtsdo not know that I mean, you are lucky. What I mean by getting tested on isthis. When somebody is telling a storyand acting it out, they take the smallestguy and start showing everybody how itis done. Example: Oh and did you seeAli start jabbing at Shavers. Oh, man, hejust kept hitting him (jab into my stomach) and dancing and everything; andthen, when Shavers was all shook up andweary, Ali belted him like this . . . So Ihave bruises all over me, and I am sorethe rest of the day. After many years of experience, I amgetting used to it; and I just take it all instride. But that is enough about badthings. Now I go to the not so bad part, and that is dreaming about being big.Probably the thing I would like mostabout being big is basketball. I long toget in a real live HPER game. That maynot sound like much; but after playingthere by myself and just sitting therewatching those big guys, play is not veryfun. But why just HPER basketball andnot school ball? Ill tell you why. It isbecause you do not have a coach yellingat every move you make. When you playat the HPER, you play to please yourselfand not a coach; and you play the wayyou want to play, which in my case (andmost peoples) is run and gun.So I cant wait until I grow and growand grow.162 Creativity |
