Description: The things I go through getting ready for schoolMelanie SimpkinsEverything went wrong that morning. I got up on the wrongside of the bed. How did I know it was the wrong side? Well, onegood reason was probably that I ended up on our front lawn. You see, I stepped out the side of my bed that the window is on.But that was just the beginning, to say the least. As I sleepily climbed to my feet and crawled back through thewindow, another tragedy happened. Just as I was pulling myfoot through, the window came crashing down! I can still feelthe pain! Oh, well, what importance does a toe have in your lifeanyway?Hobbling to the bathroom, I suddenly found myself flat onmy back on the floor. I opened my eyes just in time to see mysisters roller skate flying through the air and crashing into mymothers favorite vase. At this point I had to decide whether toreturn to bed, stay right where I was, or continue my roughjourney to the bathroom. After a little encouragement from mydad and after giving it much thought, I removed myself fromthe hall and cautiously walked into the bathroom.I thought everything would be okay, until the weird taste inmy mouth changed my mind. Id goofed again. Checking thetube I was still holding in my hand, I saw that it wasnt toothpaste. It was hand lotion. After trying a couple of differentmouthwashes, without success, I figured that maybe breakfastwould help.Luckily, on the way to the kitchen nothing terrible happened. But in the kitchen my luck changed again. After deciding thatcold cereal would be the safest, I poured what was left of theCheerios into my bowl. Pouring the milk, I noticed that its texture seemed different from normal. Glancing at the carton, Isaw the word Buttermilk. Oh, well, I didnt feel like gettingthe other carton; and besides, my brother only left me enoughcereal for one bowl. So I ate it anyway. After choking down my breakfast, I went to my room to getdressed (watching out for all roller skates and anything else ofthat sort). I scanned my closet for something that looked atleast halfway decent to wear and put it on. From then on itseemed that my luck was changing for the good. Everythingafter that went perfect. On the other hand, what could go wrongwhile walking to the bus stop? But just as I turned the corner ofmy house, I saw the bus pulling away from the curb.FriendsGlen MatlockWhat are friends?Friends are the best people in the world.Somewhere, sometimes, theres always a friend.A friend is always there when you need oneto talk to,look at,and sometimes help youwith your problems.Theyre there when you are alone,or even upset. They will help you when youre in trouble,or in grief. You can always depend on a friendno matter what.Friends are there on holidaysto share happiness and joy.Theyre also there when yourein the dumps, hoping to makeyou feelbetter.Im proud to say I have lots offriends who care and like me.That means more to me than allthe money in theworld could buy.Cause money cant buy friends.Melissa FargoCreativity 159
