These practicesconsist of qualifying on thegolf course, hitting golf ballson the driving range, andpracticing our short game onand around the puttinggreens, said freshmanAndrew Todd. Despitepopular belief, practices canbe an extremely fun event.The events are very differentfrom other sports since theplayers are not required tocondition and generally donot require as much physicalactivity compared to othersports. In order to prepare fora tournament, the boys workon tuning things up at thedriving range and spend alot of time on the puttinggreen says Todd. If they areThree boys golf membersgive some insight onpractices, preparation,and tournaments,able to get a practice roundin, it really helps (them) get abetter feel for the course,junior Seth Kestranek states.Once the day of thetournament arrives, theathletes are extremelyprepared and excited tocompete. The tournamentsusually have many teamsconsisting of five golfers apiece. Then, the best fourscores for each team arecalculated, and the lowestteam score wins. Atournament consists of a totalof 18 holes, an intense andinvigorating experience.Practice makes perfect isnot a phrase taken lightly bythe South boys golf team, andtheir time perfecting theirtechnique is what allows themto succeed.- Riley Eurtontaking a stanceFor either a beginner or a pro, havingthe perfect stance is key toadvancing in your golf game.
