The new field has many perks for the team, one being they get to play on astroturf. I like the astroturf better, said freshman Brooke Yeskie, when I need to dive I can gofurther. There is less friction on the astroturf, making a playwhere one needs to slide or dive easier but ground plays harder.Because synthetic grass is woven into secure backing, playersmay also achieve more secure footing despite the reducedfriction, allowing more precise turning and stopping. There aremany advantages to having an all-artificial field, one being theplayers are less likely to get hurt by twisting a knee or sprainingan ankle. Every fiber of an artificial turf field is manufactured tobe a replica of the one next to it, so no areas are uneven ordifferently textured so as to help players keep their footing, reducing the chance of injury.137John Talbottfreshman9
