Complaints camefrom the rest of the fans alleging thatThe year of 1979-80 has beenone of new experiences for theBloomington North Pompettes.The squad is made up of 28 girls,more than half of them are newadditions to Pompettes. Pompettes is also a new experience forthis years sponsor, Ms. RebeccaHines, who is starting her teachingcareer at North.The Pompettes started the yearthis summer by electing their captains, Kathy Gladfelter and SharonMuncy. The squad attended a drillteam camp at DePauw University,marching away with second placein group competition. Some individuals also attended a new campat Ball State University, at whichmost of those who attended didwell.Then with school comes practices every day from 3:30 to 5:00,five days a week. Football games,marching with the band, pep sessions, basketball games and awhole series of new routines, is allpart of being a Pompette in the79-80 school year.The newest addition to thegroup this year is that of new uniforms, all of which were paid for byselling candy bars.Although many changes havehappened this year, the purpose ofPompettes has stayed the same.That is, having a good time, creating school spirit and backing theCougars on to victory.they were cheering so loudly that they(the fans) couldnt concentrate on thegame. It might not have happened if thePompettes werent seated in the vistorssection.175
