Last^k year North had a tough run with arecord of 0-10. Thankfully, theteam pulled together, finishingthe year off with a record of 3-9.North football is awonderful athletics program thathas helped many young men succeedNorth, and in their futures. This yearthis program has specifically helped onestudent, Tristin Woods, with his dream.Football punted Senior Tristin Woods future through thegoal post of life!I started playing football at the age of 8, Woods said. Iplayed every year up until my sophomore year, and then Irecently joined the team again my senior year. For manypeople, football is simply a game to watch for mereentertainment. But for Woods, football is so much more.Football had always been more than just a game to me. Iwould watch football every time I got the chance as a kid, andfrom a young age everyone knew I would be good at it,Woods said. Hes had to overcome many obstacles in his lifeto get where he is today, but he never stopped trying.Quiting football after my freshman year was hard. Itfelt like I had a hole in my heart, he said while describingpersonal challenges that took priority. That did not end hiscommitment to his sport as this American pastime becamehis passion. It shaped him to be the best he could be and hasexpanded his future potential.Football [has] taught me to always give everything [Ido my full effort], Woods said. Thankfully, after all of thehard work I put into [my] return to football, I was offered ascholarship to play at the University of Saint Francis,something I had thought was just a distant dream. Woodsis the first of his family to attend college.The whole thing [is] just surreal to me. I am verythankful for the doors North football has opened for myfuture, Woods said. He plans on majoring incommunications at Saint Francis, and one day hopes to gopro.Obviously the chances areslim to none, Woods said, butIm going to put in mymaximum effort because I .have noting to lose.Woods would like to playfor the Saints or thePackers, a team withsome history, hesaid.
