Jordan also believes that if abortion is illegal, people would simply find other, possiblyillegal and definitely dangerous, ways to do the procedure themselves.Jordans experiences at the march was life changing. Its very powerful, said Jordan, who added that its anamazing experience to witness thousands of people who all share an opinion come together and stand for theirbeliefs.North Student AdvocatesHuman Rights for AllSophomore Jerrett Alexander is an advocate forrights for all people, regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, orculture. He attended the protest in Bloomingtonduring the first few days of the Trump presidencydirectly following the executive order to ban travelfrom seven Islamic countries, also known as theNo Ban No Wall protest.Alexanders position on this Muslim Ban issimple: Donald Trumps immigration policy, inmy mind, can be summed up by one word: unAmerican. Alexander made apoint to say he believe this is a direct attack on some of his Muslim friends, given that North is a very diverse school, and therefore is a direct attack onhimself. Alexander is not optimistic about the future, saying that thisimmigration policy is not the first attack on Americas minorities, and, unfortunately, it will not be the last. The very political sophomore added that he cannot give Trump a chance if he continues to excluderesidents of his own countries, and that he has not done anything to improve relations with countries in theMiddle East. Alexander believes that terrorist organizations could actually use this anti-Muslim rhetoric to fueltheir recruitment process as well as future attacks on the US.103 |
