Description: ■n^jcLeaving, But With Fond Memories of NorthBy Arianna BuehlerNorth senior, Megan Strobel, gained acceptancei into St. Louis University (SLU) earlier thisyear. She worked hard during high school andenjoyed participating in many clubs.Junior year was her hardest year because sheintensified her focus on college admissions.Becoming more involved in various clubs, studying for the SATs and taking more APclasses was all part of her successful process. She says that becoming a Principal Scholar, which is a student who has earned a 4.0 orhigher each year during their high schoolcareer, helped her gain entry to SLU. HerPrincipal Scholar status is one of her biggestaccomplishments at North, along with herinvolvement in many clubs.Strobel served as co-resident for Habitat forHumanity during her junior and senior years. She helped build four houses with Norths| chapter of this club. Feeling confident in herwork, she encourages others, especially youngI people, to help change the world.Im young and still have a lot to learn andexperience, she said. What Im doing truly isleading to better things, and I really am makingI a difference. In addition to Habitat, she is involved withRiley Dance Marathon, is on the Student| Athletic Board, and is a National Honor Societyofficer at North. She believes that beingW5*involved in these clubs will set her up forsuccess next year at SLU.Not knowing anyone at SLU and having tostart fresh is what she finds most intimidatingabout next year. Being as comfortable with thepeople at SLU as she is at North is one of hergoals. She hopes to achieve this by branchingout and being involved in one or more of theJ universitys many clubs.i When she attends SLU next fall, Strobel willbe accompanied by some of the countrysI finest. This top 50 Midwest school offers over100 graduate programs, including its School of! Nursing to which Strobel is a direct admit. This Principal Scholar will miss how close-knit II the people are at North. One of the thingsStrobel will miss the most about high school isthe structure and feeling of being close-knit.This is evident in her own definition of North:;A community that is very eclectic; there are alot of us and we are all very different and (we)come from different backgrounds. But, I thinkwe are all able to come together to be [...] a[family.1 Learning more about medicine and havingi classes that are tailored to her interests excitesStrobel about this fall. She also looks forwardI to getting a different feel for her environment! as she leaves North behind.f \v\V
