Forsophomore Ricky Escobio, the first day of school wasntlike that.He didnt have any friends because he had just movedfrom his hometown of McCallen, Texas.I was a bit nervous, Escobio said. But I knew it wasthe best financial thing for my family.Over the course of a year he has began to feel morecomfortable, but he doesnt feel at home yet.I really miss being able to go somewhere and knowingeveryone or what (the town) is like. Im still new here, anddont know much about (Bloomington), Escobio said.Escobio has noticed differences between life in hishometown and in Bloomington.I can tell that people (in Bloomington) have differentmindsets. People in Texas are a lot more close-minded,Escobio said. However, Escobio has made the best of the change.I was scared, but I have made such great friends hereso quickly I often forget Im the new kid, Escobio said. The move has made Escobio hopeful for his future inBloomington.I am most looking forward to getting more used to thecity and getting to feel a part of (Bloomington).\161
